The Question is:
We are having one Alpha 2100 system running OpenVMS 6.2-1H3. It has got 2
HSZ40 controllers in the redundant mode. We are having another Alpha 2100
system which is having OSF/1. But we want to have the OpenVMS on this system
(which is having OSF/1 right n
ow and doesn't have any HSZ or any other RAID controller) and make a OpenVMS
cluster of these two systems.
Now the question is what hardware(HSZ40 controllers, SCSI
controllers/cables), software an Licensing we need to have to perform this
task and what will be the brief procedure to create a cluster?
The Answer is :
The OpenVMS Installation and Upgrade Manual and the OpenVMS Cluster
Systems Manual will be of interest here -- the former describes how
to install OpenVMS and what licenses are usually expected (minimally),
while the latter manual includes a description of adding a new node
to an existing OpenVMS Cluster -- either as a satellite node, or as
a node with a local system disk, or as a node sharing a system disk
with other OpenVMS Cluster member nodes.
(The OpenVMS Wizard is not aware of any way to distill this
documentation sufficiently for inclusion here, as there exists a large
number of permutations and configuration options involved in the creation
of an OpenVMS Cluster environment -- the documentation provides you
with the necessary information and with details of the various choices
available to you.)
