The Question is:
Currently we have a DEC 4100 server running OpenVMS version 7.1-2. UCX
version 4.2 - ECO 3. We have configure ftp services to be enabled, and also
rlogin services to be enabled through the UCX$config utility. We have also
set up a proxy on the OPENVMS
server for a specified user and host.
Problem:
If you try to ftp to the OPENVMS host you get the following error: Access
Denied. But you can ftp out from the OPENVMS host to any other host. Also
if you try do do an remote shell from another unix system to the OPENVMS
host you get the following erro
r: "Protocol Error"
ANY IDEAS or Sollutions, Please HELP!!!
The Answer is :
You will want to follow the steps outlined in the TCP/IP Services
manual for enabling and then configuring the FTP Server -- the FTP
Server, as differentiated from the FTP Client. In addition to
setting up the export area and the bindings and the TCP/IP proxies,
you will also typically want to enable the portmapper.
The OpenVMS Wizard would recommend moving to TCP/IP Services V5.0A
or later, as well.
If the problems persist with TCP/IP Services V5.0A, please contact
the Compaq Customer Support Center.
