Reconfiguring OpenVMS: Installing DECnet, LAT?

» close window

The Question is:

OpenVMS was loaded onto a new DS20 using the Factory Installed Software
process which runs when the machine is first booted. At this time the only
networking option that was loaded was Digital TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS
and DECnet Phase IV was removed.

WE now require to use DECnet Phase IV and LAT. How do we install it?

The Answer is :

For assistance in installing DECnet Phase IV, please see the OpenVMS
upgrade and installation manual, and specifically the sequence used
to boot from the CD-ROM media. The following menu entries are of
interest when working with layered products shipped on the OpenVMS
  Alpha distribution media:

o Install or upgrade layered products and patches
      o Show installed products
      o Reconfigure installed products
      o Remove installed products

LAT is integrated into OpenVMS, and is normally loaded onto an OpenVMS
system when it is installed. If LAT was specifically reconfigured off
the system -- which is certainly possible, but rather unusual -- then
the OpenVMS CD-ROM media can be used to reconfigure OpenVMS itself, and
  to reload LAT support.
