OpenVMS RAM Disks?

» close window

The Question is:

Hi,

Can a RAMDISK be created on OpenVMS?
If yes, how do I create one?

Thanks in advance
Daya

The Answer is :

There are various commercial and freeware RAM disk products available
for OpenVMS, including DECram. Most (all?) include documentation.

The OpenVMS Wizard would encourage evaluating the use of RMS global
buffers and appropriate I/O caching before moving to a solution based
on a RAM disk. The OpenVMS Guide to Performance Management can help
determine what options are available to improve system performance,
and guide you through the process in a systematic fashion.
