What does EDT mean?

The Question is:

What does EDT stand for, as in edit/edt?

And also, if you know, what does FOCUS stand for?

The Answer is:

It's short for Edit, coined back in the days of RSX-11 where most of the utilities had three-letter names which were used as the executable image name for the utility.

FOCUS is from Information Builders - I suspect that the name doesn't "mean" anything, in that it is not an acronym or abbreviation.
