Ask the Wizard Questions

any way to assign a systemwide logical?

The Question is:

We have three nodes in a cluster, is there anyway to assign a system
wide logical that all three nodes will see? I know I can go through
SYSMAN and set environment to cluster then do the assign statement,
but I would like to find another way if possible.
  Thanks for your help.

The Answer is:

At present SYSMAN is the simplest way to define a logical name across
a cluster. You could write code to use DECnet task-to-task communications
to pass definitions to a server process on other nodes, but it probably
wouldn't be worth the effort (and may create security holes).
