Ask the Wizard Questions

DECwindows: Not authorized

The Question is:

I am trying to install Oracle for OpenVMS. The Motif
portions are not working correctly. Following their docu-
mentation, I defined decw$display:

$ def decw$display shsc01::0

and then executed their program: rundocm. I got the
following messages:

$ rundocm
Xlib: connection to "SHSC01::0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Connection to Window System or Terminal type failed.

I am running Motif 1.2-3 and Oracle 7.1.3.2.0 for Open
VMS 6.1. There documentation suggests that I might
need the following Motif patches:

CSCPAT2010012.A
CSCPAT_2012010.A

The Answer is:

>$ rundocm
>Xlib: connection to "SHSC01::0" refused by server
>Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server

      This error message indicates that the security profile in the target
    X server does not include the username/nodename combination for your
    process. How you change this depends on the X server software and
    transport protocol. Under Motif, go to the session manager window,
    "Options" menu, select "Security" and add the username, nodename and
    transport of your client.
