Ask the Wizard Questions

HelpDesk: PC questions

The Question is:

We've purchased an application called Banner from SCT, it
 prints reports to print queues.
We are using TCP/IP for our communications protocol and
Netware 4.0 for our Lan Manager. We are using Host Presenter
from Lan Workplace for our communication package.

2 questions.

1. Is there any way to establish print queues, or any
programs that will allow us to print to network printers.

2. The communication package is emulating a VT220 terminal,
is there anyway to print to the printer attached to the PC
using print queues.

The Answer is:

:1. Is there any way to establish print queues, or any
:programs that will allow us to print to network printers.

Yes, there are various methods available, including the use
of network printers such as Digital's PrintServers, and the
use of network printing protocols such as lpd/lpr -- Digital
TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS (UCX) supports lpd/lpr capabilities.
(Third-party lpr/lpd packages are also available.)

:2. The communication package is emulating a VT220 terminal,
:is there anyway to print to the printer attached to the PC
:using print queues.

This is not an OpenVMS question.
