Ask the Wizard Questions

Datatrieve: DTR on VAX & Alpha

The Question is:

I'm writing a Vax-to-Alpha migration plan and have been
able to find out what I need to know about compatibility
of all applications except for Datatrieve. We are
currently running the Vax 5.1 version. All I have seen
about the DEC 7.0 version is that "Datatrieve-11 is
largely upward compatible", but nothing about Vax
Datatrieve at all. Is Datatrieve-11 the same as Vax
Datatrieve? In either case, would you provide me with
or direct me to information on the compatibility of Vax
Datatrieve to Dec Datatrieve.

Thanks.

The Answer is:

-< Do you have access to the documentation? >-

Information around product compatibility should be present in the
Datatrieve V7 manual set -- Datatrieve version 7.0 is available for
both OpenVMS VAX and OpenVMS Alpha. If migrating, it may be useful
to first upgrade to V7.0 on the OpenVMS VAX system.
