Ask the Wizard Questions

Terminal: DEC STD graphics

The Question is:

While reading some Digital product information on
the Internet, I stumbled across a notation:
Sixel DEC STD 070-9 Level 1
(found in DECfax info)
I'm interested in DEC graphics and wondered if
Digital publishes protocol information for
REGIS, Sixels, etc. I've seen PPL2/PPL3 documentation
for printers, but are the DEC standards written up
in a special, protocol-only, non-product-specific form?

The Answer is:

"DEC STD" documents are not generally made available outside Digital.
The ReGIS and SIXEL protocols can typically be derived using the
VT terminal programming manuals, and these documents are available.
