Ask the Wizard Questions

LaserJet 5P and DCPS

The Question is:

Our department has recently bought a HP LaserJet 5P and
we have connected it to our vax machine. On this machine
we are running DECprint Services (DCPS) and we would like
to get this printer printing off stuff from DCPS. Every
time we submit a print job, the printer just goes into
stalled mode. The connections are working fine as we have
put in a Digital Laser and it has printed okay. Please
help....

The Answer is:

DCPS supports a number of HP printers, but the LaserJet 5P is not among them.
It is possible that a future version of DCPS will support this printer, but it
is not planned at this time.

It is also possible for customers to modify code in the DCPS device control
library so that the printer will work, but of course this is unsupported.
