IBM tape reader on OpenVMS Alpha

The Question is:

We have used a shareware program called MTEXCH for a number
of years on our VAXes whenever we need to send or recieve
an IBM formatted tape. Now that we are using the Alpha
platform, we can't find an Alpha version of that program.
Does DEC offer a supported product which does the same thing
but on the Alpha platform?

The Answer is:

    No, we don't offer any such product.  However, if you have the sources
    for the shareware program you should be able to recompile it.  You
    might also want to check the DECUS tapes, they do include program to
    perform that function.
