Ask the Wizard Questions

Unix on VMS

The Question is:

My company is looking at purchasing a package that runs under UNIX.
We have just migrated over the an ALPHA 2100 from a clustered
pair of 63xx VAX systems. We are looking for a product that
would allow us to run OpenVMS and DigitalUNIX concurrently,

I am not aware of any but the CIO remembers reading something
about a product that would allow this. Could he being thinging
about the POSIX utility available? Could this package work?

Thanks,

The Answer is:

We realize this may a bit late for you, but we just today received your
question. We hope that you also put this question to a Digital pre-sales
support representative.

If the package is provided in source form, it is possible that it could be
compiled and run under the POSIX environment on OpenVMS. However, this is not
the same as running UNIX and OpenVMS concurrently.
