Ask the Wizard Questions

What is the meaning of "fullname service"?

The Question is:

Dear Wizard:

I have a customer looking for information regarding DataRetrieve and VAX VMS. Specifically, the customer would like to know what "fullname service" means.

DataRetrieve version 7.1 indicates one requires at least version 5.3 of VAX VMS unless the customer is looking for "fullname support" in which case the customer requires VAX VMS version 6.1.

The Answer is:

"Fullname support" relates to DECnet/OSI, an optional product, and its ability to use node names longer than six characters.
