CIFS - Course Outline

Day 1 and Day 2, combination of lecture and lab
Introduction to CIFS
Installing and Configuring CIFS as member server to an active directory domain with tdbsam on a standalone node and in cluster
CIFS process overview, CIFS features, cluster support
winbind functionality
VMS specific support - ODS2 and ODS5 support, VFS layer
Managing CIFS - This will cover:
  1. adding/modifying/deleting users and groups
  2. adding/modifying/deleting file shares, setting permissions on shares using domain and local CIFS users and groups, inheritance of permissions on shares, supporting VMS permissions
  3. managing printer shares
  4. Various administrative and management tools - net command, smb utilities etc
Troubleshooting and debugging techniques
Limitations
Supported and unsupported features
ASV and CIFS comparison
Future work.
Migrating ASV to CIFS across 2 nodes.
