If PATHWORKS V6 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) is currently installed,
ensure that it is Version 6.0C or later (enter the ADMINISTER SHOW
VERSION command at the DCL prompt). Otherwise, upgrade to the current
release of PATHWORKS V6 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) before continuing.
To migrate a PATHWORKS V5 server to Advanced Server for OpenVMS,
you must first upgrade it to PATHWORKS V6.
The Advanced Server for OpenVMS configuration procedure automatically
converts the PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) data files
to formats compatible with the Advanced Server for OpenVMS. In addition,
the PATHWORKS for OpenVMS server parameters and settings stored
in the existing LANMAN.INI file (the repository for server parameters
used by PATHWORKS for OpenVMS servers) are migrated to OpenVMS Registry
parameters (the Advanced Server for OpenVMS uses the OpenVMS Registry
as a repository, similar to the Microsoft Windows Registry).
For more information, see the
Advanced Server for OpenVMS Server Installation and Configuration
Guide.

Migrating from PATHWORKS V5 Server to PATHWORKS V6 Server |
You can migrate a PATHWORKS V5
server to a PATHWORKS
V6 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server)
server. The PATHWORKS V6 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) product provides a separately
installable Upgrade utility that you can use to migrate the
PATHWORKS V5 server's user, group, and share information while the server continues
to run. This allows you to plan and migrate shares, user accounts, and security in preparation for the PATHWORKS
for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) installation, without interrupting file and print services.
You can also use this utility after you install PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced
Server).
To migrate a PATHWORKS V5
server to Advanced Server for OpenVMS, you must first upgrade it to PATHWORKS
V6.
For information about migrating servers, see the
PATHWORKS for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) Migration Guide.
For the latest details about migrating a PATHWORKS V5 server,
see the latest PATHWORKS V6.x for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) Release
Notes and the PATHWORKS
for OpenVMS (Advanced Server) Installation and Configuration Guide.
