RELEASE NOTES for HP Performance Agent (OVPA) for OpenVMS Version 4.0 ====================================================================== Restrictions ------------ This version of HP Performance Agent (OVPA) for OpenVMS has been tested with the HP OpenView Performance Manager (OVPM) Version 5.00 and later. But HP does not recommend using OVPM Version 4 with this version of OVPA, even though it works. The following display fields in OVPM are not supported on OpenVMS: - The Disk ID display shows up blank. Disk ID is a unique ID on UNIX and it is not supported on OpenVMS. However, device name is a unique ID on OpenVMS and can be used instead of Disk ID. - INODE is not applicable to OpenVMS. HP is investigating an alternative metric for INODE. Documentation Notes ------------------- - If you have installed TDC clusterwide, the OVPA installation does not recognize this TDC installation. TDC must be installed on EACH OpenVMS node that you want to install OVPA on. - Many of the documents delivered with this version of OVPA for OpenVMS are written for Linux; however, the same documents hold good for OpenVMS. - Shut down OVPA by executing the @SYS$STARTUP:OVPA$SHUTDOWN command prior to installing an update to the TDC software from the TDC web site. Failure to do so prevents the newly-installed TDC software from running correctly. If you do not perform the above, the TDC installation installs an updated version of the TDC execlet image into SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES, and the newly-installed TDC software attempts to load the updated execlet when it starts a collection. That attempt is blocked because the previous version of the execlet image is still in use. However, the TDC collection operation continues but will not be able to gather most process- and disk-I/O metrics.
