HP DECprint Supervisor for OpenVMS (DCPS), a layered product, offers powerful PostScript printing for HP OpenVMS on Integrity servers, AlphaServer systems, and VAX systems.
DCPS users can format their print job with features such as number-up printing, customized lay-up and simulated graybar output.
Selectable printer features include stapling, and tray and paper size selection.
Print queues use TCP/IP, LAT, or AppleTalk over the network, or a serial port to connect to the printer. Files in numerous formats
can be printed, including PostScript, PCL and ANSI, with DCPS translating files if necessary to PostScript.
DCPS v2.6 adds support for the following printers:

DCPS works with three types of printers:
- Supported. These printers have been tested with DCPS and all features of DCPS and the printer are supported.
- HP Generic. These are HP printers, usually new models, that have not been tested with DCPS. Features of DCPS and the printer should work similarly to supported HP printers.
- Unrecognized. Most PostScript printers that support bi-directional communication can be used with DCPS, but not all DCPS or printer features may work.
The right to use all features of DCPS is now included with the OpenVMS base operating system license, so no separate license is
needed for DCPS.
