Supported software versions - March 21, 2008

Unless otherwise agreed to by Hewlett-Packard Company (HP), HP provides HP Support Services only for the current and immediately preceding versions of HP software, and only when the software is used with hardware that is included in HP-specified configurations. A version is defined as a release of a software product that contains new features, enhancements, and maintenance updates.

OpenVMS Operating System Support Chart key

  • TBD—To be determined.
  • W/24 mo notice—These versions are in an extended PVS cycle. OpenVMS will provide a 24-month notification before ending support for these versions.
  • *—This version is a replacement for its prior version.
  • **—Standard support ends when the second subsequent release ships. HP supports the current version and one back. Future version shipment dates are estimates.
  • Prior Version Support-Sustaining Engineering

Prior Version Support—Sustaining Engineering (PVS-Sustaining Engineering) provides full remedial support, including escalation to HP OpenVMS Engineering for problem resolution.

    PVS-Sustaining Engineering key features include:

  • Ready access to technical experts by phone or e-mail
  • Online access to tools, technical information, conferences, and symptom/solution databases
  • Problem analysis and resolution
  • Software patch testing as required to solve problems
  • Critical on-site support
  • For details, contact your HP Services representative, Customer Support Center, or contract administrator.

    Extended Engineering Support (EES)

On OpenVMS Integrity releases, Prior Versions Support (PVS-SE) is replaced by the Extended Engineering Support (EES) offering. Extended Engineering Support is similar to Prior Version Support (PVS) in that it provides Engineering analysis, troubleshooting, solutions and problem resolution. EES is a customizable support offering and may be purchased for any OpenVMS Integrity or OpenVMS Alpha version beginning with OpenVMS Alpha Version 8.2 and OpenVMS Integrity Version 8.2-1.

    OpenVMS CORE products

The following are designated as OpenVMS CORE products:

  • Advanced Server for OpenVMS
  • DECnet (Phase IV)
  • DECnet-Plus for OpenVMS
  • OpenVMS Cluster Client Software
  • RMS Journaling for OpenVMS
  • TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS
  • VMScluster Software for OpenVMS
  • Volume Shadowing for OpenVMS
  • It is our business practice to support these CORE products at the same level (Standard Support or PVS) and duration as the operating system version on which they shipped. For example, as long as OpenVMS v7.3-2 remains in standard support, so will the versions of the CORE products that shipped to support it. When OpenVMS v7.3-2 goes into PVS, then the CORE products will be supported on v7.3-2 for the same duration as the operating system.

NOTE: These products require their own individual support contracts. They are not supported as part of the operating system support contract.
