This manual is intended for experienced programmers who need to develop Compaq C++ programs on OpenVMS VAX systems. Users of this manual should have a basic understanding of the C++ language and some familiarity with the DIGITAL Command Language (DCL).

Monospaced type denotes the names of Compaq C++ language elements, and also the names of classes, members, and nonmembers. Monospaced type is also used in text to reference code elements displayed in examples.
